What to Buy
Below is a list of products I would recommend and have readily available once your new puppy comes home. Getting a new puppy can be overwhelming so I spent some time compiling this list to take some stress off your shoulders. I have done a lot of research on the best products for my dogs and these are my favorites.
Pee pads are great to have when you’re not readily available to let the puppy outside if he has to go (maybe your cooking dinner or busy helping with homework). Get the pads that stick to the floor so he doesn’t tear them up when playing. Amazon also has plastic pee pad holders that are very convenient which we use for “litter training.” We prefer the carbon activated pee pads for extra odor control. The brand we like best is Bulldogology which has polymer tech which absorbs faster & turns liquid into gel for so much less mess.
AmazonBasics Single-Door & Double-Door Folding Metal Dog Crate
I don’t recommend putting a puppy bed in the crate until they are crate trained because it is important that it stays clean and doesn’t ever smell like pee. For the first few weeks I just use old towels or old baby blankets in the bottom of the crate. That way if they do have an accident in the crate it is easy to pull it out and toss a fresh one in. Once they are fully crate trained then you can get a bed to put in the bottom of the crate
SmartPetLove Snuggle Puppy Behavioral Aid Toy
This is the perfect gift for your new puppy as he transitions into your new home. Dogs and puppies are pack animals who are instinctively drawn to their mother and others in their pack. The Snuggle Puppy recreates intimacy with physical warmth and a 'real-feel' pulsing heartbeat, providing an extra source of comfort for your pet.
Helps with crate training by reducing negative behaviors such as whining and barking, which also helps YOU sleep at night
Helps pets transition to their new home and reduces stress caused by fireworks and thunderstorms
“Real-feel” pulsing heartbeat and heat pack calm by appealing to natural instincts
Machine washable on gentle cycle
These are an excellent and humane way to help your puppy learn to walk on a leash without pulling.
Elevated bowls help with dogs cervical stance and helps promote better digestion.
They are a little pricey but more then worth it because they last for months! Antler chews are natural, healthy, odor-free and long-lasting chew toys. They help keep your pup entertained and have the added benefit of cleaning his teeth.
Stay away from anything Rawhide - its full of chemicals and gets lodged in the digestive tract.
